Mark grew up in Invercargill and has long enjoyed camping at Lakeland Park Christian Camp - with many happy childhood memories made there. At the age of 30, Mark headed over to the USA where he received an education and found a wife. He and Kristen have now been married for 14 years and have three children: Micah (8), Naomi (5), and Ezra (3). After returning from the USA, Mark pastored a rural church in the Waikato for ten years and has been at Hope Church in the Tasman Region since 2017. Mark and Kristen are totally looking forward to being part of camp over the New Year - where Mark will be sharing the story of Jonah - and for them both to reconnect with old friends and make new ones too!
Mark is excited to be attending camp this New Year and to be sharing from the book of Jonah. Jonah is one of the best-known stories in the Bible but, in the apparent simplicity of the story, it opens bare our hearts to how our desires are often far from God. This - one of the shortest of books int eh Bible - packs a punch as it calls us to align our hearts with God's own. Mark's hope is that as we each enter 2020, we will be compelled afresh by the compassion and love of God.
Lakeland Park is located at 496 Peninsula Road, Kelvin Heights, Queenstown.
